Hot Charleston Returns: Changes

After long deliberation Hot Charleston workshops will be returning next week 7th Oct! Here are a list of changes as well as an opportunity to perform on stage.

Things that haven’t changed

  • The beginners class: Learn some core moves, put them together and have fun dancing charleston.
  • Ice-cream break (of course it wouldn’t be hot charleston without a break for ice-creams and a chat.
  • Bookings will still be done online via dancecloud

This that have changed

  • The plus class will now be a ‘Routine class’
  • The price will now be £8 for 1 class or £13 for both. This is the first price increase ever (2012 was when we started!)

The Routine class:

I’ll pick a full routine for us to learn, this will be taught over several Hot Charleston workshops. The beginners class will go over core moves included in the routine so we can focus on just putting them together in the routine. They could be classic routines such as the Shim Sham, Big Apple. Or they could be a new routine choreographed by Rob such as the Sugar Sweep. Please feel free to put in requests!
For our first routine we’ll even have the opportunity to perform it at The Dance Studio Leeds Celebration of Dance showcase on the 25th Nov.

The Celebration of Dance

The celebration of dance showcases many of the dance styles taught at The Dance Studio Leeds and it’s so good to see everyone performing what they’ve been learning at the studio.

I’m going to have a few routine ideas in mind, but on the first workshop back 7th Dec I’m going to see who’s interested and what would be the best routine to run. Then I’ll teach that routine over three workshops:
7th Oct: 3:30-5:30 (new format, seeing who’s up for it!)
14th Oct: 3:30-5:30pm (1st Rehearsal)
28th Oct: 1:00-3:00pm (2nd Rehearsal)
18th Nov: 3:30-5:30pm (3rd Rehearsal)
25th Nov: Tech rehearsal + Performance!

You do not need to perform in the show, you can just learn the routine for fun. Nor do you need to attend all the workshops to take part. The routine will be available online and practice at home is recommended regardless.
