Robert Shield has been dancing Lindy Hop since 2005 and has traveled around the UK and Europe to learn from some of the greatest Lindy Hop teachers from the 1930s and today. He founded Swing Dance Leeds in 2011.
Rob teaches weekly classes in Lindy Hop, Charleston and Balboa as well as leading workshops and taster sessions for events and Festivals around the region. Since starting Swing Dance Leeds Rob has taught regularly at Lindy Hop weekenders from Aberdeen to Brighton and occasionally further afield in Europe. Rob has experience choreographing routines for dancers of all levels. He has choreographed Lindy Hop and Charleston routines for Lindy at the Light, Leeds University Swing Society, and Swing Dance Leeds. He is also regularly hired to choreograph bespoke wedding dances for happy couples with or without any prior dance experience.
Rob has performed at a variety of conferences, events and festivals around the UK including Swingamajig, National Railway Museum and Driffield Airshow. He has performed with the Jive Aces and appeared as a dancer in Peaky Blinders, Zingzillas, Flog it!, and Back in Time for Tea.
